Trend Report: Indigenous Influence

We see a major influence by Native American culture. Though tribal prints have been with us for a few seasons now this look is more refined. Beforehand we had seen very bright colors, but now much of the colors used with this trend are of low saturation with pops of color. The color palette includes various shades of Cognac, many of the neutrals that evoke a dry dessert feeling, Jade Green, Turquoise, Rustic Red, Azure Blue, Black, and White. Designers are using the inspiration through the adornment in jewelry, handbags, belts, and dresses. Handbags are seen with fringed or tasseled detailing. Designers have been using the Southwest influence through various styles. An Example, we see is a loose draped fit in the jackets that giving off a cape-esque look. Designers like Giambattista Valli used a Japanese inspired geometric shaped dress with the Southwest like print. Fabrics that designers have been using vary from suede, denim, linen, cotton, silks to tweed. The Southwest look can be laid back boho style or uptown chic. Here are pictures to exemplify this trend.
